Without Words

The world is not respectable;
it is mortal, tormented, confused, deluded forever;
but it is shot through with beauty, with love,
with glints of courage and laughter;
and in these, the spirit blooms ...
and struggles to the light
amid the thorns.

I have learned that fighting inside oneself
and bullying others to adhere to group-think
are the single easiest ways to alienate people
and lead them to quit.
I refuse to quit, now or ever.
I will fight for change in my way and will
support those who fight in their way.

From his latest column for the Falls Church News-Press,
in which he eloquently answers his critics
with clear-eyed self-awareness, honesty, and heart.
And far more grace than most could manage.
Please, please read and share.

More Canada trip photos/videos below!

2013 has not been my favorite year ever. And last week was one of my least favorite weeks in this supremely not-favorite year. I spent most of it drowning in other people’s words, none of which were kind, loving, uplifting, encouraging, or helpful in any way. And none of which did anything to make this world a better place for anyone.

So currently I’m experiencing a lot of word-fatigue.

But that’s OK, because these extraordinary photos speak to my soul all on their own, of light, beauty, courage, endurance, and love.

I hope they’ll do the same for you.

As always, please, please do click each photo to see the full-size image.

I’ll just be here all day....

it is one less bully harassing another individual
and for that reason
I am strong enough to bear it.

On a lighter note, this happened...

...which led to this. With 878 likes and reblogs up to this point, and still going. He may have broken Tumblr. Plus bonus tsunami of Twitter love for him. Of the hundreds I saw, I think this tweet is my favorite:

Bonus pic! Tweeted by an NBC broadcast engineer

like this photo of you in the VO Booth at NBC Sports.”

Quollective?! Eeeek! The Quotable Johnny Weir can be replaced by a Twitter app?!!

Naaah! How can an app possibly compete with the quote collection you've amassed for all Johnny's fans? No way! :)

This Canadian trip explains why the facebook site has been so quiet. Relief.

Have always wanted to see Johnny skate outdoors on a frozen lake. Gorgeous! Lake Louise is perfect. But wish the snow had been dusted off the ice and made Zamboni-smooth, and the sky a bit more clear. And Johnny in a costume designed for the outdoors.

Then, I want James Cameron (Avatar director) to film Johnny first in costume and then with the electronics on so Johnny can be transported to a magical planet where the vegetation is made of spun sugar, fiberoptics and refractive crystals.

Here's hoping that Loki plays chess and is really a great guy.

Here's hoping for a case that instructs folks to not blame the victim.

Tom Hiddleston has the finesse and arresting quality of Peter O'Toole. Great dynamic range. http://variety.com/2013/legit/reviews/london-theater-review-coriolanus-starring-tom-hiddleston-1200969320/
