A Virtual Cornu-Kaleido-Scopia of Red Carpet Photos (If That's a Thing)...

...To Make Up for the Fact That There Aren't Any Actualfax Kaleidoscope Photos.

Johnny on the red carpet last night at the Broadway premiere
of "Seminar," starring Alan Rickman and Jerry O'Connell.
May I just say: Wow. Photo via Wire Image
There's also a plethora of images from WENN
although they're watermarked to death
in the same vigorously determined way that Alice used to
stamp pretend library cards when she was three.
But I love that out of the 65 images in WENN's gallery,
20+ percent are of Johnny--more than any other celebrity
in attendance, including the show's stars.
The photographers were apparently
just as entranced as we are...

Kayso he attended this Broadway premiere last night which is awesome, and when we first got wind of it from his tweet, we quickly discovered that the play he was attending had a website (info!) and a Twitter (twitpics!) and a Facebook page, the latter upon which they casually mentioned that there would be red carpet arrivals beginning at 5:30 pm EST. And then came this flood of photos throughout the night for which we are all supremely grateful after spending the entire weekend suffering through the utter media blackout that was Friday's Kaleidoscope ice show in Charlotte, NC. Fans at Kaleidoscope say stern warnings against photos and videos abounded, as did no-photo enforcers / storm troopers who paced throughout the performance and possibly received their training in Lake Placid. Alas, we have not even a single backstage photo to share with you, although at the end of this blog, through the sliding doors (security code: FBI-CIA-DEA-ATF-WTF-SERIOUSLY?), past the retinal scan, down the elevator, and underneath the laser grid which can only be conquered by performing Johnny's back-bending slide, is one pseudo-photo and some contraband video. FFS. Fortunately the broadcast is this Thursday (Thanksgiving! Yes! I'm thankful!) on FOX immediately following the football game (4 pm-ish EST / 3 pm-ish CST), so, as my friend Jen Bee said, "At least we don't have to wait too much longer to see it. ... [Did] they think we'll decide not to tune in Thurs to watch, after seeing a fancam version? Are they new??!"

BTW Thanksgiving is chockful o' Johnnyness, because not only do we have his two Kaleidoscope performances to look forward to--a slinky Lady Marmalade program involving something akin to pole dancing which prompted attendee Krista Swinton to smile: "I will never again look at a street lamp in quite the same way..." and also Poker Face (OMG! Poker Face! Please oh please don't let them cut either of these from the broadcast....)--he's also appearing in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (click on "Parade Lineup" at the link, then scroll over to "Featuring," and there he is! Along with Cee Lo Green, Mary J. Blige, Daniel Radcliffe and the other stars of "How to Succeed in Business...", etc. etc.!), which starts at 9 am EST. Then the next day he'll be at the Macy's Great Tree Lighting in San Francisco, performing and also doing a meet-n-greet afterwards. Plus a MAC Cosmetics tent! Will be! At the tree lighting! #GlitterAndIce

So until all that happens, here's a cornucopia of last night's red carpet riches to tide us over whilst we await Thursday's never-before-seen-OMG-skaters-SKATING-on-ICE-with-SINGERS-and-STUFF-wow-no-wonder-they-had-to-keep-it-under-wraps broadcast...

Bonus pic! I love this: Someone asking for his autograph
outside the theater before he can even step onto the red carpet...

[Shhhhhhhh. OK. You made it. That laser-grid thing is quite a challenge, isn't it? Well. All we have re: Kaleidoscope is whispered info from fans that he wore his super-sparkly Bad Romance costume to perform Poker Face, and that for his Lady Marmalade program, he initially wore some kind of long, dark coat, which he flung off early in the piece to reveal this costume (though I think without the veil this time):]

[Note: NOT a Kaleidoscope photo. This is from Holiday Dreams on Ice 2010, at which he debuted this costume for the premiere of "Dirty Love." Were this an actual Kaleidoscope photo, alarms would be going off all around you and you would already be receiving cryptic instructions via a cell phone delivered to you moments ago by FedEx as to how to escape the building with the help of Morpheus...]

[Aaaaaand we have the one and only fancam film in existence that I know of, smuggled from the arena and posted to his Facebook fan page by one awesome video ninja. And despite producers' apparent mind-numbing fears to the contrary, this only whets our appetite further for Thursday's broadcast. Sweet Weirsus that football game better not run long...]

West Coast fans! Come see Johnny perform
at Union Square Ice Rink as part of Macy's Great Tree Lighting

The play is about a creative writing class. After reading Johnny's book "Welcome to My World," I'd say he wrote well enough that he would ace the class, even conduct a class if handed a few guidelines.

I don't understand why Fox Television is so paranoid. Homemade films just tantalize and remind one of how much one is missing by not being there and just whets the appetite for the broadcast version. Paranoid.

Jana Colgin who was present in Charlotte thought it was rude that the announcer started into the introductions while Johnny was completing bows. I thoroughly agree. The kitten phalanx closes protective ranks around Johnny...claws out.

Johnny's looking so cozy in his furs . . . wish i was a certain small panda so i could be cuddled or maybe even hide in a pocket. :-)

Understatement indeed! Love aaaack's reference to the 'kitten phalanx'! After we got irritated a while back at the description of us as a 'cabal' (before we decided to own the term, that is!), I said we should refer to ourselves as a 'phalanx'. So we both like that term!

Once again MM, great blog! Thanks so much for the photos, and the links to more photos, and as always, for your sense of humor!

I don't know why so many of these shows and arenas are so anti photo and video. I get the idea they don't want people selling photos and videos, and flash photography is still a danger to skaters; but they can be so anal about it. I got my small camera into All That Skate L.A. last year, and so did others. Thank goodness because their videos were better than mine! None of it would stop me from watching the show either.
