Bits and Pieces

I'm feeling a little fragmented today, so here are some random notes in no particular order which offers some insight into what my grocery lists must look like:

HEY! WE DID IT! With the upcoming transfer of about $1,100 in PayPal funds, the donations to our Ride for Life fan project have now exceeded our $7,500 goal! And fundraising continues until July 31, so please continue to pimp and donate, and let's see how high we can get that number over the next six weeks ...

Please remember to vote for Johnny as USFSA's Readers' Choice Figure Skater of the Year! Because he most def is. Only one vote is allowed per e-mail address, and voting ends July 15.

The campaign to get Johnny onto DWTS is rolling along, picking up momentum as well as confusion and criticism as it goes, so let's clear a few things up:

*Yes, Johnny would really like to do DWTS, and he'd like to partner with Karina Smirnof. They are now following each other on Twitter, and Karina is also campaigning to make this happen!

*Yes, there's now a Twitter account for Johnny and Karina that you can follow called "@TeamWeirnoff" --a name I absolutely love!

*Yes, you can tweet repeatedly to @ABC_DWTS to let them know that you'd love to see Team Weirnoff on an upcoming season!

*Yes, we now have a Facebook group, "Johnny Weir Needs to Be on DWTS," that you can join to help promote the idea!

*No, of course you don't have to support this if you hate it. Fans who want what Johnny wants, no matter what it is (DWTS; a yak; even longer and pointier shoes; a meeting with K-Tel Records to discuss a second album of classic polka duets with Weird Al Yankovic; whatever) are working on generating as much buzz as possible, but please feel free to avoid the whole thing if you wish.

*No, ABC has NOT yet announced a line-up for next season. The article posted on Johnny's Facebook page from Sportales was dated May 27th and appears to be wishful thinking on the author's part mixed with confusion over whether this wish list is for the 2010-2011 season or the 2011-2012 season. So there's still time to campaign for Johnny!

Hey! Facebook fan Julie Findon has two extra tickets to Skate for Hope THIS Saturday, June 19! She wants to sell them and donate the proceeds to our Ride for Life project! More info is available here!

At last! LogoTV's NewNowNext Awards, taped last Tuesday at The Edison in Los Angeles, will FINALLY be shown this Thursday, June 17! (I hear Johnny was nominated for "Most Addictive Reality Star" ... ) If, like me, your cable company offers Sundance Channel (currently showing lots of special programming devoted to Gay Pride Month plus regular series like Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys) but NOT LogoTV (always showing lots of programming related to gay pride plus fabu amounts of Buffy the Vampire Slayer aka Girls Who Like Boys Who Are Vampires and Girls Who Like Girls Who Are Witches), you can watch the awards on the web at LogoTV.com. Pre-show is at 9:30 p.m., followed by the awards at 10 p.m. and again at 11:35 p.m. (all times EDT).

And finally, please remember that you can pre-order Johnny's upcoming book, scheduled for release on 01/11/2011, through Amazon!

PLEASE KEEP VOTING HERE for Johnny to win
the 2010 Readers' Choice Skater of the Year Award
(voting ends July 15)!
And please keep pimping out
to everyone everywhere through July 31!

thanks for this post. i actually got some nasty tweets from someone because i was sending dwts tweets about johnny. i am with you, if he wants it, i will try to help if i can. it sure doesnt mean he cant or wont pursue everything else he wants to do because i tweet dwts about having him on!

oh, and one more thing, tweeting that i want jw on dwts, doesnt mean i hate the other people they are thinking of having on, i am just supporting jw, nothing more!

go johnny!

So much to keep us busy! Just when we think we can wear a shorty robe and crawl under a palm tree, he hits us with more exciting options to whip out our pimp cane, raise our pimp cup, and show the love.

On a personal note, I've never actually watched DWTS (whaaat?! You mean you didn't watch when Hetero' Orange Slore-Bro was on? Erm. No.) as I am a So You Think You Can Dance fan, but I know I would watch with as much obsession and enthusiasm as I have when Glee graces my television. Let alone BGJW but that's... well that's special. We won't discuss my reaction when the first few moments of his theme song blare from the speakers. This is a family show, after all.
